Central Regional Irrigation Directorate (CRID), Lalitpur serves 19 districts through eight development divisions, four subdivisions, one management division and one mechanical division. Among the total geographical area of 27,43,100 ha land within this region, only 75,00,00 ha is arable and out of this only 72.27 percent, i.e. 5,42,000  ha is irrigable. Till F/Y 068/69, total irrigation potential created within this region is 3,45,233 ha which accounts for nearly 64 percent of total irrigable land. However, The actual irrigated area at present might not commensurate with the recorded irrigated area due to some of defunct projects and dismal performance of the existing systems.
